DRG COORDINATOR esponsibilities include assisting the team in coding and abstracting, data entry and data submission; monitor data quality and advise in the development of improvement plans; serve as key resource for denial management, addressing denials from Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers; collect and prepare data used in studies for clinical evaluation, financial impact and profitability; provide trending and analysis of coding and DRG issues; and assess educational needs and assist in developing and implementing educational activities and materials.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Health Information Management/Medical Record Administration or other healthcare-related field; 3 years of progressively responsible DRG/ inpatient coding experience; RHIA, RHIT or CCS; strong analytical skills; comprehensive knowledge of DRG methodologies and regulatory requirements.
