GENERAL SESSION AND SPEAKER HIGHLIGHTS
Delos Cosgrove, MD
Former president and CEO of Cleveland Clinic
Delos M. Cosgrove, MD, led Cleveland Clinic as
president and CEO from 2004 through 2007. He
now serves as an executive advisor to the $8 billion
healthcare system, which includes the main Cleveland
Clinic campus, 10 regional hospitals, 18 family health
and surgery centers, and hospitals and clinics in Florida; Nevada;
Toronto, Canada; Abu Dhabi, UAE; and London, England (opening
2020). Under his leadership, Cleveland Clinic became the number
two ranked hospital in America in U.S. News and World Report.
As a champion of quality improvement, data collection,
transparency and ethics, Dr. Cosgrove re-organized the structure
of Cleveland Clinic into 20 patient-centric, data-driven institutes.
Despite the Great Recession of the late 2000s, rapidly changing
reimbursement models, and the highest acuity rating for Medicare
patients in the United States, Cleveland Clinic has expanded access,
increased services, improved quality and safety, and has significantly
improved its patient satisfaction and employee engagement scores.
Dr. Cosgrove’s focus on quality, accountability, and prevention has
made Cleveland Clinic a national model for healthcare reform.
