Godwin I. Okafor, MSHI, RHIA, FAC-P/PM, is program manager at the US Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, DC and an adjunct professor in Maryland. Okafor has served in a variety of roles at the state and national levels, including
on the AHIMA Annual Convention Program Committee, AHIMA House of Delegates
Task Force, and the HIE Practice Council. Okafor has also served as the director and
president-elect of the Maryland Health Information Management Association. Okafor
serves on an advisory committee for an academic program to ensure program curri-cula consistently and effectively meets industry needs. Okafor has extensive volunteer
experience that demonstrates his commitment in the HIM profession. He is a model
professional for representing AHIMA, which is evident by his dedication to service and
Susan P. Scully, MS, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, FAHIMA, is the director of the HIM
program at Rowan College at Burlington County. Scully has been actively involved in
the New Jersey Health Information Management Association (NJHIMA) for over 25
years, serving in many positions including three terms as president. Scully is an advocate for students and education. She was a member of the AHIMA Triumph Awards
Committee and has worked with the AHIMA Foundation. She facilitated a faculty development regional meeting in New Jersey, and has presented on many topics including coding. She is the recipient of the AHIMA Mentor Triumph Award, NJHIMA Distinguished Member Award, and is an AHIMA Fellow.
Allison F. Viola, MBA, RHIA, has over 20 years of experience managing health record systems, life-cycle implementations, and data mapping as well as working with
policy and strategy, and security solutions. As Kaiser Permanente’s director of health
IT policy in Washington, DC, Viola identifies, develops, and recommends strategic
health IT policy positions and advises across regions. Viola has served as director, secretary, and treasurer for the Virginia Health Information Management Association.
She is a volunteer member of the AHIMA Standards Task Force and Health Information Exchange Practice Council. Viola is a widely published writer and speaker on the
subject of health IT. She is currently enrolled in the Mitchell Hamline School of Law in
pursuit of a Cybersecurity and Privacy Law Certificate.
